Mail server
Any SMTP server with a public address works (e.g. your hosting's mail). The port is usually 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (SSL).
Keeping mail out of spam
Your domain's DNS needs three records; hosting usually sets them up, but it's worth checking:
| Record | What it does | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
SPF (TXT @) | Lets your server send for the domain, e.g. v=spf1 include:_spf.yourhost.com ~all | Your hosting's docs |
| DKIM (TXT) | Signs each email | Your hosting's mail settings |
DMARC (TXT _dmarc) | Tells receivers what to do with unsigned mail, e.g. v=DMARC1; p=none; | You add it |
Test it at mail-tester.com: send an email to their address and see the score.
