Connect

Slack connects only through the ORYVOX Slack app (bot oryvox.ai).

ORYVOX asks only for these permissions: writing messages (chat:write, chat:write.public), listing channels so you can choose one (channels:read, groups:read), finding a team member by email (users:read, users:read.email) and, if you allow it, searching messages for agents. Search needs your personal consent in Slack: search:read.public, search:read.private, search:read.im, search:read.mpim, search:read.files, search:read.users (the new Real-time Search API) and search:read (older search, used only where Slack doesn't offer the new one yet). Disconnecting revokes the access in Slack.

What Slack really granted is shown on the integration's page, in Connection → Granted permissions. If something is missing, click Grant access.

Tools

For each tool you choose when it runs. Agents only tools never reach the website chat.

Notifications for your team

Slack tools are for your team: the chatbot never uses them to answer a visitor. The most common use is an automation "hot lead → message in a channel".

Messages as cards

If an agent or automation gives a title, fields or a link, ORYVOX sends a Block Kit card instead of plain text: a title ("Hot lead"), fields (name, company, intent, source) and a button such as Open enquiry. The plain text stays as the phone notification preview.

Threads and scheduled messages

  • Reply in thread answers under an earlier ORYVOX message, so the channel stays tidy.
  • Schedule a message posts later: a report tomorrow at 9:00, a reminder on Monday (from one minute to 120 days ahead).

Both are for agents and automations only.

The default channel

You pick the channel from a searchable list. ORYVOX remembers it by channel ID, so renaming the channel in Slack breaks nothing.

Talk to ORYVOX in Slack

ORYVOX doesn't only post; you can write to it:

  • @mention in a channel (invite the bot first: /invite @oryvox.ai): @oryvox.ai what did we decide on pricing last week?. The answer comes in the same thread; 👀 shows while it thinks.
  • A direct message to the bot works like a chat with your company assistant.
  • /oryvox question answers only you; /oryvox status checks the connection.
  • On a message ⋯ → Ask ORYVOX asks about that message.
  • App Home has a short guide and actions waiting for approval.

The chatbot set in Chatbot that answers in Slack answers, from its knowledge. It uses Slack search and other agent tools only when the person's Slack email matches their ORYVOX account in your company; others get answers from knowledge only, never actions.

Approvals in Slack

When an action needs your team's approval, a card with Approve and Reject appears in the thread. Only an owner or admin whose Slack email matches their ORYVOX account can click; the decision is recorded under their name and the card changes to "Approved by … · done".

Security

ORYVOX checks every Slack request against Slack's signature (X-Slack-Signature); without a valid signature, or older than 5 minutes, it's refused. The same event is processed once, even if Slack sends it again.
